Our 2015 paper that dispelled old rumors about the density of penguin feathers received some exciting
news coverage.
National Geographic. I was interviewed by Ed Yong, a journalist from National Geographic. This interview and our work was featured in a National Geographic blog post, “Busting myths about penguin feathers“.
Los Angeles Times. A journalist from The Los Angeles Time, Amina Khan, also called me to find out more about our penguin study. She reported on the results of our research in the science section of the L.A. Times “Emperor penguins’ feathers defy conventional wisdom, study finds“.
Phys.org. Our work was also featured on the popular science website, phys.org, “Closer look at emperor penguin feathers dispels popular folklore notions” by Bob Kirk.

Emperor penguin research. My article on muscle oxygen store
depletion earned me the 2011 JEB outstanding paper prize. This work also received some attention from the press, including the following interview and articles:

Antarctic Women Scientists. Cassondra Williams was selected as one of the scientists featured in Women Working in Antarctica, a project to highlight women scientists, educators, support personnel and technicians working in Antarctica. This project was part of the National Science Foundation’s Artists and Writer’s program for the International Polar Year.
